There's nothing more frustrating than creating content and not having it convert or lead to sales or sign-ups (trust me, I know the frustration). You've worked too hard on your products and services for people not to be responding (plus they really need what you've got so...it's time to figure out WHY Your Content isn't Converting.
1. It's Not Relevant To Your Target Audience: So here's the thing...most of us aren't sure who our audience is or what they want and ultimately that causes a MAJOR problem. Make sure that when you build your content it's written specifically to meet the interests and needs. Before you create your next content calendar make sure that you've identified your target audience and write for them.
2. It's Not Strategic: Content has to serve a purpose and in order to serve that purpose it must be strategic. Keep in mind that your content must lead them to next steps and get them to do what you want them to do and go where you want them to go. That being said, make sure that the content keeps them on your site or leads them to your social media or offer-that takes strategy. Create a plan that maps out where all of your content will go and how it will lead them deeper into your community.
3. It Doesn't Have an Effective CTA: Effective CTA's (Call To Action) are very necessary. Why? Because they instruct your reader on exactly what they need to do- no guesswork. Your CTA's should tell (don't ask-tell them they need to), be clear and get to the point.
4. Your Funnel/Lead Magnet is Too Complicated: Let's be honest, how many times do you leave a site completely because it's too complicated? I always remind my clients that you have to think of the user experience and if your opt-ins are too intricate or don't capture their attention immediately then you may be missing out on a ton of conversion. Make sure that what you need them to access is not only easy to get to but doesn't cause them to leave your site prematurely.
Implementing these 4 simple steps is incredibly simple and you'll see improvements in your content immediately!
